Founded in 2001 by seven students seeking an outlet for intelligent debate and a place for free markets, The Torch comes out monthly (or eight times a year) with news and commentary concerning Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee, and national news affecting conservatives and college students. Our mission statement reads as follows:
“The Torch provides a forum for libertarian and conservative ideas on the Vanderbilt campus. With an emphasis on individual rights, free markets, and limited government, it offers news and commentary on politics, culture, and life at Vanderbilt. It aims to establish liberty as the central concern in policy debates.”
We are a member of the Collegiate Network.
