Greetings from the Counter-Counter Protest!
In high hopes to see the lingering masses of MoveOn.org protesters, Mike and I headed over to the Hill to attend the counter-protest by the College Republicans, after seeing this Next Right post. While I refrained from holding any posters, here's Mike with his borrowed sign:
In reviewing these photos, I find I'm somewhat partial to the elephant with the gas nozzle trunk.
We didn't get over there until about 5:20, though, so all who remained were but three lonesome MoveOn.org protesters (from the estimated 50 that were there at 4 o'clock):
It appears someone else in the Free Republic / CR group took a liking to the Sparky, the Gas Pump Elephant there.
I wonder how the European protesters felt about it (from Politico via Hot Air):
"[Thomas Cannady, a MoveOn protester] said that the European tourists, here enjoying the cheap dollar, were especially receptive to his call. 'A lot of the Europeans are very much for it. "You should see how expensive it is in our country,”' he said they told him. The Old Worlders, he said, insisted that drilling alone was no solution to the high prices and that conservation and renewable energy investments were crucial."
Always a relief to hear Europe chime in, no? We didn't talk at length with the fellow Drill Now folks, but I doubt seriously that anyone there thought that drilling and drilling alone was the solution to our problems, just one facet of a multi-pronged approach.
