WHO WE ARE
The Torch is the campus conservative/libertarian magazine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. It was founded in the fall of 2001 by seven students looking for an outlet for libertarian and conservative ideas, without becoming a partisan entity. Ever since, the Torch has endeavored to inform, persuade, and spark intelligent debate with the Vanderbilt community on relevant issues, both campus and national.
Along with the Vanderbilt Orbis, the campus liberal and progressive magazine, the Torch is a full member of Vanderbilt Student Communications Inc. in the perspectives division. The Torch also receives a generous annual grant from Collegiate Network, the campus publication division of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. The Torch was awarded "Best Layout and Design" for the 2006-2007 school year at the Annual Collegiate Network Editors Conference in Scottsdale, AZ this November.

Generally, the Torch runs twelve pages of content, ranging from commentary and debate to satire. It is published four times each semester, and eight times a year. In the January 2008, the Torch transitioned to a full color front and back page following the fall semester, in which the Torch raised over $1500 through the generous donations and subscriptions of our readers.
